OUR CAPABILITY FRAMEWORK

The VECTARA Capability Framework defines the human capabilities that enable people, teams, and organizations to perform well, make sound judgments, and adapt as conditions change.

Why a Capability Framework?

Most organizations invest in learning without a clear answer to a simple question: What does good performance actually require in this context? Without that clarity:

  • development becomes generic

  • priorities compete

  • learning feels disconnected from real work

The Capability Framework exists to bring focus, coherence, and relevance to growth efforts.

What We Mean by “Capability”

At GrowthWorks, a capability is not a personality trait or a job skill.

A capability is:

  • observable in real work

  • learnable and developable

  • context-dependent (it differs by role and situation)

  • expressed through judgment and behavior, not just knowledge

Capabilities sit between knowing and doing.

How the Framework Is Used

The Capability Framework is the backbone of the VECTARA platform.

It is used to:

  • guide learning pathways

  • anchor assessments and diagnostics

  • inform course and program design

  • support leadership, team, and enterprise interventions

  • keep development aligned with a changing environment

It is not a checklist. It is a decision-making tool.

The Six Capability Clusters

The framework is organized into six clusters that reflect how work actually happens.

Each cluster represents a distinct area of human capability, while remaining tightly connected to the others.

Literacies

Capabilities are built on shared understanding. In today’s volatile and fast-changing environment, professionals need more than functional expertise — they need foundational literacies that enable them to interpret complexity in the same way. Without this shared base, cross-functional performance weakens, even when individuals are highly skilled.

VECTARA Literacies provide focused foundation programs that bridge silos and establish common language across teams. This ensures capabilities are developed on aligned understanding, not fragmented perspectives.

For example, when leaders across operations, marketing, and finance share a strong digital literacy, conversations about automation, data, or AI shift from confusion or resistance to informed, coordinated decision-making.

Levels of Development

Capabilities develop over time and through use.

VECTARA uses four progression levels across all capabilities:

  • Foundational — basic awareness and understanding

  • Applied — consistent use in familiar situations

  • Adaptive — effective use in complex or changing conditions

  • Strategic — shaping direction, systems, and others

Progress is demonstrated through application, not completion.

How the Framework Stays Relevant

The Capability Framework is not static. It evolves through:

  • organizational diagnostics

  • feedback from real use

  • environmental scanning and sense-making

  • changes in work, technology, and expectations

This ensures development priorities stay aligned with reality.

Let us help you map your organization’s capability profile.
